The Family International WikiChristian communal group known as The Family International, formerly known as "The Children of God", "The Family of Love", and "The Family". The Family International (or TFI) is an international Christian community dedicated to sharing the message of God’s love with people around the world. Founded in Huntington Beach during the late 1960s, TFI has grown into a global organization with members in more than 90 countries.
God’s love is a message that is shared by the Family International all over the world in its commitment to Christian fellowship. It has grown to accommodate members from over 90 countries since it was formed in California in the 1960s.
The mainstay of its worldwide missionary network since its foundation 42 years ago in that "God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) and "God is love ... [and] since God so loved us, we ought also to love one another" (1 John 4:8,11 NIV), is the central message despite the structure of membership and approach changing over time.
As a international Christian community, the Family International has dedicated itself to spreading the Gospel of God’s love across the globe. We are of the strong conviction motivating others to develop a personal relationship with God by giving everyone happiness and peace in the souls is the good news of God’s love that needs to be shared. The doctrines that Christians follow around the world are in line with our core beliefs even though our traditions may vary slightly. A key characteristic in the rededication of our devotion and Christian way of life is guided by the foundation principle of God's Law of Love taught by Christ Jesus, that is, to love God, and to love our neighbor as ourselves which says "all the law and the prophets" (Matthew 22:37–40).
Spiritual and Cultural Temperance—the institution of a Pluralistic WorldChristian Faith that we adhere to is reaching across the divide to accommodate people and act in moderation in spreading the Gospel irrespective of color, ethnicity or nationality. The Family International has a multifaceted following reflective a membership of over 100 nationalities and has ministered to various peoples and communities in more than 150 countries since its inception in 1968.
In forming a pluralistic society one of the essential aspects of our faith is the resistance to racial and religious discrimination by practicing understanding and tolerance so as to desist from prejudice in all its forms. We recognize the fact that all human life is sacred and observe the respect for all persons since every human being is created in the image of God.
That the solution in mankind’s problem lies in the love of God is a strong belief that we adhere to. Over and above our great involvement in religious association and social service we transform the same principles into practical application through hope, love and salvation.
Each year, the Family International handles the production of a wide range of education, devotional and inspirational publications that are distributed to millions of individuals the world over. These publications have been availed to the masses in most of the key languages spoken all over the world. To read some of our literature that covers a wide range of issues, please see Viewpoints.
A key publication that is published on a monthly basis known as Activated is interpreted to over 20 languages all around the globe. Every monthly issue focuses on how to understand spiritual principles and putting them into practice to activate God’s power in our lives by dealing with topics important to our day to day lives.
The Family International enhances spiritual development by offering seminars and classes to members. As such, individuals are trained to develop a personal relationship with God, improvement with their relationships with others, the fey tenets of His teaching as found in the Holy Bible and their application in members’ everyday lives, and the prediction of the prophecies of the future as mentioned in the Scripture in addition to many more details as expressed in the Bible.
As the administrative body of Family International, TFI services deals with the administration and publication services to Family missionaries all over the globe including publication of scripture and mission focused counsel while finding programs and helping in the work of missionaries. It also provides services relating to enhancing the operation of centers in developing countries including those under emergencies, payout of tithe to support fund operations and donations.
THE FAMILY INTERNATIONAL'S CHARTER
The codification of the Family members’ responsibilities, beliefs and rights was adopted through a membership charter adopted in 1995. Key elements of the belief are summarized in the fellowship in addition to our statement of faith while the administration remains codified.
The general parameters of the charter provide for autonomous operations even though communities and members of the Family International are brought together by common purpose and faith. Mission work and goals are established independently though within the framework through common purpose as expressed in the TFI mission statement.
The Family International membership is open to participation from people of diverse nationalities, gender, culture and race that are interested in engaging in its activities and lifestyle. Membership of the TFI fellowship is drawn from over 100 countries representing different regions of the world. You will attain full membership on accepting the tenets of the Family International and by making contributions to the mission according to your personal initiatives and preferences.
Ethical conduct and personal integrity are the hallmark of every member’s personality in both your personal and professional life.
TFI membership: Up to date, more than 35000 people have dedicated their lives to the service of God and mankind through the family International. After various years of missionary work, a good number have ceased being active members of the fellowship and retired or opted to pursue other occupations. We are forever indebted for the time spent and work put into the fellowship activities and missionary work over time.

Assistance is provided to the needy around the globe by Family members through a series of programs ranging from counseling sessions, musical and theatre performances for the disadvantaged in diverse countries as well as management seminars that focus on time and stress to helping in refugee camps, disaster relief and humanitarian efforts including seminars for educators and parents focusing on child-rearing; personal counseling in prisons and juvenile detention centers as well as striving to revitalize drug users and giving hope to the disadvantaged, sick and elderly. Members also work closely with aid bodies at the local and international level to facilitate encouragement to the destitute, assistance, consolation, materials and provisions.
The Family International has grown in leaps and bounds when it was founded in 1968 and known as Children of God. Since then, members have traversed the globe spreading the word of God through multimedia productions, music and literary materials while establishing a presence in over 100 countries. There have been challenges that have been faced along the way but the Family International has overcome them to build a fellowship across the world consisting of disaster assistance, humanitarian aid, colloquiums and counseling in sharing the message of the love of God all over the world.
The Family International originated in Huntington Beach, California in 1968. David Brandt Berg (1919-1994), also affectionately referred to as “Father David” along with his wife and adolescent children began the ministry with a focus on counterculture youth. On developing a personal relationship with God through our Lord Jesus, a good number of them witnessed glorious changes in their lives. (These can be referred to in the writings of David Brandt Berg called the "MO Letters").
Conversely, there was a new commitment to serving God and fellow man by the new followers. The news media referred to them as the “Children of God” towards the end of 1969 when the group had reached a following numbering 100. There were 130 groups of full-fledged members operating around the world as of 1972. Come 1978, the Children of God gained recognition and adopted the name of the Family.
The Family International has transformed in structure over time into an international organization. A membership charter adopting the codification of responsibilities, rights and beliefs of Family members was established in 1995. The operations of the family members and groups are autonomous to the extent that they take their own initiative and make their own decisions within the Family charter.
The Family International has been noted for its contribution to humanitarian and missionary activities all over the world. 35 million members had prayed with our members and 298 million had received the message of God from the family members as of 2010 to receive the Gift of salvation from God. In the last 42 years, 12.8 million audio tapes/CDs/DVDs in over 20 languages have been made and circulated by TFI whereas 1.1 billion articles regarding the Gospel in at least 61 languages and more than 2.2 million videos have been issued.
The Family International (TFI), focuses on spreading the message of God’s love throughout the world through its global Christian fellowship network. We bring a message of spiritual revival and hope by the way of spreading the unqualified love of Jesus Christ that is unlimited in the form of boundaries and borders of race, creed or social status. We try to make the world a better place to live in by offering divine solutions to the challenges encountered in life by translating the love of God through care and compassion in a bid to improve the lives of others. In doing so, we seek the interventions of Jesus Christ through his ministry that is "to preach the Gospel … to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind" (The Bible, Luke 4:18 NKJV).
Our commitment is to:
Transforming this World into a Bette Place: To share the message of love for mankind.
Change the World into a Better Place:
